ABOUT DARSAN

Darsan founders, Darryl Shaver and Sandro Aiello, have brought their individual talents together to form a successful landscape design and build firm since 1993.

A stonemason by trade, Darryl Shaver got his start in the business in 1987, after completing a three-year program in Landscaping at Toronto’s Humber College. Employed by others for the first several years, he gained valuable lessons and experiences. Sandro Aiello, a business graduate of Toronto’s Seneca College, gained his experience while previously employed in earth works, excavation, and structural forming.

Darsan grew from humble beginnings. Creativity, imagination and hard work are the staples of their successful landscaping firm. These three tenets are valuable to Darsan’s growth and success which has enabled the company to branch out into the residential and commercial industry. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are looking to hire ambitious individuals that can manage and install landscape construction projects.

 

Landscape Construction Foreman

Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of construction.

  • Hands on / working foreman who can read blue prints and execute site layout as well as
    setting grades at the start of each project.

  • Experience with laying natural coursing stone, block foundations, forming and pouring
    concrete. Install precast pavers, and natural flagstone for patios, walkways, driveways and pool coping.

  • Install precast and natural stone wall systems for retaining walls, seat walls,
    garden walls, and stone pillars.

  • Manage the execution of construction projects and planning day to day labor requirements.

  • Co-ordinate and delegate tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion
    of landscape constructions.

  • Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines.

  • Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including daily time cards, site photos.

  • Ensure that all crew members comply with company policies and regulations.

  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization on job site as well
    as assigned trucks, equipment, shop and yard areas.

  • Train new employees.

  • Operate various tools, machinery and equipment, including: heavy equipment,
    chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.

  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner.

  • 3 -5 yrs. minimum experience. Valid driver’s license required.

Landscape Construction Labourer

Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of construction.

  • Experience with the set up and installation of precast pavers for patios, walkways and driveways.

  • Install precast wall systems for retaining walls, seat walls, garden walls, and stone pillars.

  • Experience with mixing mortar and provide assistance to stone masons with the installation of natural coursing stone, block work, and natural flagstone.

  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization on job site as well as trucks, equipment,
    shop and yard areas.

  • Ability to operate various tools, machinery and equipment is an asset.

  • Install trees, shrubs, sod and soil for garden beds.

  • Plant material knowledge is an asset.

  • 3 - 5 yrs. minimum experience. Valid driver’s license required.
